La Jolla Shores

Perhaps the most popular spot along La Jolla's coast is its flattest and safest swimming beach, attracting thousands of people on any given summer Sunday. Divers, joggers, fishermen and tai chi students that take full advantage of the Shores early morning calm. Volleyball enthusiasts organize games and tournaments, playing from dawn until dusk on this favored stretch.

In1951 a large tract of land bordering the sea was donated by Florence Scripps Kellogg in memory of her husband, and since then, Kellogg Park has been the site of family picnics, kite flying, games and other leisure activities.

Whether gathering shells, leisurely strolling along the water's rippling edge or building the sandcastle of one's dreams, La Jolla Shores combines all the best qualities of sand and sea.
