There are approximately 480 students attending grades K-5 at Bird Rock Elementary School. The school is located on almost 5 fenced acres in the Bird Rock area of La Jolla and consists of 4 permanent buildings and 11 bungalows, all having been renovated. A new library and instructional area have recently been completed.

Bird Rock students are high achievers and consistently score among the top five schools for San Diego City Schools. The school offers an extended day reading program as well as tutoring through the "6 to 6" program which is open before school at 7A.M. until after school at 6 P.M. Both the neighborhood and the parents are active in supporting the school.
